“Just” Writing vs Creative Writing

Creative writing can be described as any writing of fiction, poetry, or non-fiction, that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, and technical forms of literature. Creative writers typically decide an emphasis in either fiction or poetry, and they usually start with short stories or simple poems.

Creative Writing different from the “just” merely writing, creative writing can be described as any writing of fiction, poetry, or non-fiction, that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, and technical forms of literature (Everett, Nick. 2005). Creative writing is believed to focus on our’ self-expression, to provoke or persuade other people for cherishing our idea.

Creative writers are also often faced by an issue called Writer’s Block. Writer's block is a condition, associated with writing as a propession, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work (Flaherty : 2004). The condition varies widely in intensity. It can be trivial, a temporary difficulty in dealing with the task at hand. Writer's block may have many or several causes. Some are essentially creative problems that originate within an author's work itself. A writer may run out of inspiration.

In order to solve the writer’s block, there is an effective remedy that we should use to wipe this obstacle out. This very thing is called MOTIVATION. Writing motivation is said to be intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic writing motivation comes from within. Extrinsic writing motivation is for satisfying others. As it stated by Natalie Goldberg, often referred as Natalie Goldberg's first four rules of writing , there are some several thing that you can do easily to improve your writing skill ;

1.Give yourself a time limit. Write for one or ten or twenty minutes, and then stop.
2.Keep your hand moving until the time is up. Do not pause to stare into space or to read what you've written. Write quickly but not in a hurry.
3.Pay no attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, neatness, or style. Nobody else needs to read what you produce here. The correctness and quality of what you write do not matter; the act of writing does.
4.If you get off the topic or run out of ideas, keep writing anyway. If necessary, write nonsense or whatever comes into your head, or simply scribble: anything to keep the hand moving.
5.If you feel bored or uncomfortable as you're writing, ask yourself what's bothering you and write about that.
